CRARC's Story
After serving eight years as President of an Akron area Amateur Radio Club, I knew that there had to be more to Ham Radio then just BS and Politics. I grew tired of the non-caring and backstabbing of other clubs.
and because of my current situation, I also thought that the club format should be "all inclusive" and try to accomidate those of us that are somewhat handicapped and not getting around too well anymore.
Those thoughts led to a couple questions. Could Akron have room for another Ham Radio club? Yes. And is there another club with a format we'd like to model after? unfortunately No.
Our concepts are simple. cater to the membership and give them a nice place to meet, encourage fellowship, entertainment, education, presentations, and helping train new Hams along with a test schedule to test them when they are ready, and put the fun back into Amateur Radio.
Secondly, Provide to our community, helping with public service events, providing emergency communications when needed and making sure the community knows "Ham Radio Is Here!"
Lastly, keeping to the the "true morals and ideas" of Amateur Radio and making the majority of it FUN again! We intend to accomplish this and much more! Since the original writing, we've added a couple more membership goals. We go out to eat at least once a quarter. and in the winter months meetings can be moved to Zoom if needed.***Editors Note*** (I'm an old man, I dont like going out in crappy weather!)
WoW! I've said a mouthful! Interested? Why not join us and see what a true Amateur Radio club is all about! "Join us and lets have some fun!"
